Tucson Home Remodeling: Are Cookie Cutter or Custom Your Only Options?

If you’ve been looking into remodeling your Tucson area home you may be left with the feeling that you either need to settle for what “everybody” is doing—or you’re going to have to pull out all the stops (along with all of your cash) and go for a “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous” home. Are those really your only options?

It really comes down to what you want from your home renovation. If standard design plans and materials will give you the kind of home you want—there’s nothing wrong with that. And there are plenty of contractors who can do an adequate job delivering that kind of project.

But if you want your home to reflect your family’s style and personality, you’re going to have to take things to a different level. That being said, “custom” doesn’t have to mean extravagant. Again, it depends on what you want to achieve with your remodeling. If you don’t live in a cookie cutter style home, you’re not going to be happy with an “off-the-shelf” design or materials that lack imagination and panache.

If you’re remodeling (instead of moving into a different home), it’s probably because you basically like the home you’re in, but want or need to make some changes that will allow you to enjoy it more fully. And you’re probably not going to achieve that by simply replacing kitchen countertops and cabinets.

That’s one of the advantages of the design and remodel approach to home renovation. It doesn’t focus just on the function of replacing existing fixtures with new ones. It’s a thoughtful approach that recognizes the beauties and qualities of your home and takes into account how you live and use the space. Then it moves to a specific design that brings the great qualities of your home to the surface in a way that reflects your lifestyle.

Take the time to clearly define what you want your home remodeling project to accomplish—it will be well worth it. If a cookie cutter approach just doesn’t cut it for you, you may want to go the extra step to a design and build approach that will give you what you really want. Chances are you’ll be much happier with a design that reveals the full potential of your home.
