Walk All Over Your Kitchen Remodel

When redesigning your kitchen, it can be incredibly easy to overlook the very crucial element of the flooring. There are many different options to fit many different styles of decor. That being said, it is also important to remember that you will be walking and standing on the floor quite a bit in the kitchen, so it’s important for your kitchen remodel, to find something that is as easy on your legs and feet as it is easy on your eyes.

Wood fits a variety of decor styles, is warm underfoot and easy on the legs, and is a quiet floor option, but is prone to scratches and can require a bit of maintenance. Laminate gives the look of wood while being extremely durable, but it lacks the warmth. Ceramic tile allows for a great deal of customization in terms of colors and patterns and is easy to clean, but can be hard on the legs and cold to the touch. Vinyl also has the advantages of ceramic tile but can look cheap and is prone to peeling. There are also many other green options like bamboo and cork to consider as well.

The best thing to do when choosing new floors for your kitchen remodel is to narrow the choices to a few contenders and then take a trip to a flooring store or home center for a test drive. Stand on the flooring in your socks to see if it’s comfortable. Walk around it on your shoes to see if it is noisy. Then make some pro and con lists for each choice.
